Inclement Weather Update
In the spirit of safety, St. James’s Episcopal Church will not hold any Sunday services or other activities on Sunday, January 25, 2026.
While it is unusual for us to cancel Sunday services, the significant winter storm affecting a large portion of the United States is expected to bring not only several inches of snow, but freezing precipitation and extreme temperatures, which will make travel particularly dangerous on Sunday. We want to prioritize the safety of our parishioners and staff.
Resources for Your Sunday
Evensong from January 18, 2026, honoring the legacy of The Rev. Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr., featuring the Norfolk State University Concert Choir and the St. James’s Choirs.
Sermons and Worship from previous Sundays may be found on YouTube.
While the Washington National Cathedral will not be open on Sunday morning, they will make worship available online. Their online presence continues to be a gift to the church throughout the world.
Here are links to a few churches in the Northeast, where the storm is not expected until later.
We're so glad you're here.
St. James’s Episcopal Church is a welcoming community of the faithful drawn from throughout the Greater Richmond area to our historic urban campus to worship God. Emblazoned above our altar are the words of our patron saint, “Be ye doers of the word and not hearers only.” Inspired to embody those words, our mission is to bear witness to the good news of Jesus Christ in our immediate neighborhood and the wider world, and to heed Christ’s call to serve God by serving others. We look forward to seeing you on Sunday morning at either 8:00 or 10:00 am.
Parking
We encourage parishioners and guests to park in the St. James’s/Beth Ahabah deck across the street from St. James’s (pictured at the button below). Please be mindful that the surface lot next to the Michaux House is reserved for people with mobility challenges.
