St. James’s opportunities for fellowship are many and varied. You will find we like to get together and share experiences that bring us closer as a community of faith and as children of God. The list below will introduce you to many of these events and ministries. Details can be found by clicking on titles or links in the descriptions.

Newcomer Call and Welcome Ministry

This ministry team hosts occasional “Meet and Greet” opportunities on Sundays at church and at seasonal parties in parishioners’ homes for visitors to and new members of St. James’s.

Hospitality Committee

This committee provides food and set-up for special events such as Blessing of the Animals Sunday, Easter brunch, Bishop’s Confirmation visit reception, and Pentecost.

Wheels Ministry

Volunteers provide transportation each Sunday morning to Westminster-Canterbury residents who attend the 11:15 a.m. worship service. Training for driving the WCR van is provided.

Young Adult Ministries

Adults in their mid-20s to early 40s make up the fastest-growing segment of the population at St. James’s. We like to come together for a variety of activities, including small group Bible Studies and retreats, sports and recreation, brunch and service opportunities.

Helping Hands

Volunteers provide meals to church members who are in need of support due to an illness or death in the family, or celebrating the birth of a child.

Wednesday Night Dinner Teams

These teams prepare and serve dinner on Wednesday nights before the adult education programs, September through April.

Summer Sunday Brunch

Volunteers coordinate the meal and collect payment for monthly brunches in the summer held in Valentine Hall after 10:00 a.m. Sunday services.

Parish House Volunteers

As a volunteer at the Parish House, members answer the phones and greet people coming to the Parish House during the week. This ministry particularly needs afternoon volunteers.

The Feast of St. James’s

Volunteers help with the invitations and other mailings, setting up and decorating the event location, hosting tables, food preparation, providing help for the entertainment and presentations, and serve as event greeters and helpers. The Feast will be held on October 22, 2014 at the Science Museum of Virginia.

Memorial Garden Team Ministry

Volunteers provide oversight for the care and maintenance of the Memorial Garden, help with physical gardening, and maintain updates of the Memorial Garden book.
