Contact for all children’s ministries: Kent Duffey, 355-1779, ext. 314 or kentduffey@doers.org

At St. James’s Vacation Bible School 2010, kids will voyage into outer space praising God. Through daily missions, we will see space like never before, gain a new perspective on our planet Earth, and learn easy "green" earth tips they we can all practice at home. It is a cosmic combination of faith and fun.
VBS is open to children age 3 through rising third graders. Read more about VBS 2010 and the "Galactic Blast" and download a registration form now. Contact Kent Duffey for more information. Volunteers and supplies are desperately needed! Please check out a list of supplies to see if you can help out! Contact Kent to donate and volunteer for this important week of ministry for our children.
And take a look at the great pictures from last year's VBS!

Hands-On Sunday school (2, 3 and 4/5 year olds): Our preschool children learn from this interactive curriculum on Sunday mornings. Children are introduced to a different biblical theme or story every 3-4 weeks and explore it through storytelling, songs, games and crafts. Examples of themes for this fall include “God Made Families”, “Creation”, “Noah” and “Abraham and Sarah”.

Growing in Faith – Kindergarten through Fifth Grade: Sunday mornings will look quite different this year as we begin our new program using the Workshop Rotation model with our elementary age children. This year’s theme is “Believing God’s Promises” and children will experience scriptural stories and faith lessons through workshops in art, music, cooking, games, videos, storytelling and science. Children revisit the same story over a 3 week time period, learning in a different workshop each week. This program emphasizes active learning and helping children connect scriptural lessons to their own lives. A different, fun and meaningful activity every week!

Children are welcome at all worship services. The 9:00 a.m. service is a Family Eucharist where children are encouraged to participate as worship leaders. They are invited to a children’s homily with a member of the clergy in the Children’s Chapel and upon their return they experience the celebration of the Eucharist in the Chancel and then with their families at the altar. The 11:15 a.m. service provides a Liturgy of the Word lesson for children during the sermon time and children rejoin their families for the celebration of the Eucharist. All baptized children are welcome to receive communion.
Childcare is available during both services, as well as the Christian Education hour on Sunday mornings. During our continued time of renovations, the St. James’s nurseries will be located on the 2nd Floor of the Michaux House. Below is the listing of our nursery locations:
-
Infant/toddler nursery (9:00 and 11:15 services): Room 208
