Classes are offered for children ages two through fifth grade during the Christian Education hour. Curriculums explore simple Christian themes for preschoolers and gradually incorporate more biblically based lessons as students progress through elementary school. Learning in all classes is multi-dimensional using music, art, drama and movement.
Children are welcome at all worship services. The 9:00 a.m. service is a Family Eucharist where children are encouraged to participate as worship leaders. They are invited to a children’s homily with a member of the clergy in the Children’s Chapel and upon their return they experience the celebration of the Eucharist in the Chancel and then with their families at the altar. The 11:15 a.m. service provides a Liturgy of the Word lesson for children during the sermon time and children rejoin their families for the celebration of the Eucharist. All baptized children are welcome to receive communion.
Childcare is available during both services, as well as during the Christian Education hour. The infants and toddler nursery is located across from the Children’s Chapel and the Preschool nursery is located on the 2nd floor in the Children’s Library. This ministry is made possible with parent volunteers and experienced caregivers who provide a comforting morning of play and fellowship for our youngest members.
