Adult Christian Formation
Wednesdays 7:00 p.m. - 8:00 following Evening Prayer at 5:30 and dinner at 6:00 p.m.
This engaging series invites inquiry into issues relevant to the ongoing faith journey of adults. This season’s program explores the core principle of the Via Media, the middle way of reconciliation and relationship, bridging divides of faith and life. We begin with special guests include Bishop Shannon Johnston, reflection on his experience at Lambeth’s conference of Church leaders and Karen Salter, long-time activist in the city. We will then lift our lens of inquiry, exploring the Via Media on the international stage, with guests Dr. Muhammed Sahli, a Muslim community leader, Dr. Jack Spiro, a Jewish community leader and the Episcopal Rev. Bill Sachs weighing in on interreligious conflict and resolution. We will also welcome national news correspondents to help us explore the nature of how we get our news and the stories that don’t get told. As the fall turns to winter, and we enter into the season of Advent we will ask of our guest teachers perhaps the most important question of our faith, “What are we waiting for?” With the brilliant help of the theologian The Reverend Dr. Lindon Eaves, Biblical scholar Dr. E. Carson Brisson and pastor The Reverend Beryl Choi, we will explore Christ’s coming again.
