The 2010 Annual Giving Season is now upon us! This is an exciting time as we begin to utilize our beautiful new space and also as a parish renew our vision of how to best “Be Ye Doers” over the next five years and beyond.

Our ministries make a difference in the lives of many. Please consider what we’ve accomplished in 2009 despite a challenging economic landscape. We should all be proud and at the same time realize that we are called to do even more.

“Perhaps the most fundamental task of any stewardship campaign is to help people answer the question, ‘What does it mean to trust God with my life?’ The key word here is trust, because stewardship makes no sense apart from trust — to trust God enough to let go of that which I cling to in order to be open and available with all that I am and all that I have in God’s service.” -- Stewardship’s Cutting Edge by Reverend Dr. Gary Nicolosi

As you consider your 2010 pledge, please reflect on these words and your calling within our Parish, plus the positive impact your actions have on those connected to our various ministries.

More specifically we’d ask that you make your St. James's contribution your primary charitable gift to enable God's work.

Finally, from an old Chinese proverb: “If you want happiness for an hour, take a nap. If you want happiness for a day, go fishing. If you want happiness for a year, inherit a fortune. If you want happiness for a lifetime, help somebody.”

That last line is basically why we all strive to be Doers of the Word.

Stewardship Prayer

DISTURB US, LORD, when we are too well pleased with ourselves, When our dreams have come true because we dreamed too little,

When we arrive safely because we sailed too close to the shore.

Disturb us, Lord, when with the abundance of things we possess,

We have lost our thirst for the waters of life;

Having fallen in love with life, we have ceased to dream of eternity,

And in our efforts to build new Earth,

We have allowed our vision of the new Heaven to dim.

Disturb us, Lord, to dare more boldly, to venture on wider seas, where storms will show your mastery;

Where losing sight of land, we shall find stars.

We ask you to push back the horizons of our hopes, and to push us in the future in strength, courage, hope, and love.

This we ask in the name of Jesus Christ.

Amen
