9th to 12th Grade Retreat

PYM Senior High Weekend: 9th to 12th grades Retreat

November 1-3, 2019

Retreat weekends are a great opportunity for youth to have fun with new and old friends and explore their faith outside the rhythm and routine of daily life. The Episcopal Diocese of Virginia organizes “PYM” retreats for youth to attend at Shrine Mont (www.shrinemont.com), our diocesan camp and conference center located in the Shenandoah Valley of Virginia. Parish Youth Ministries or “PYM” is a committee of high school students who plan and lead retreat weekends for their peers. St. James’s youth leaders drive and chaperone any interested youth to PYM weekends. The retreat begins with a whole group gathering, games, and music on Friday evening. Each retreat has a spiritual theme that is integrated into activities throughout the weekend. Youth are assigned to a small group that meets throughout the weekend and travels together to different activity stations. They enjoy singing “camp” type songs, playing games, doing projects, and exploring Shrine Mont. It’s a great chance for the youth from one parish to connect with something bigger than just their own youth group. And if nothing else, it’s a lot of fun. On Saturday evening there’s always a fun evening program like a Carnival or a Dance. We share Holy Eucharist on Sunday morning before we head home.
